Chicago, IL, March 1, 2009 – Westside Youth Technical Entrepreneur Center
Westside Youth Technical Entrepreneur Center (WYTEC) Chosen to Offer Youth Valuable Skills in Art, Video and Audio Technologies… for FREE
WYTEC has been providing quality entrepreneurship and technology training in Chicago’s West Garfield Park community since 1999. Now their partnership with the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network and Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) expands the learning experience to include using tools such as digital art, animation, web, and more!
Ms. Almetris Stanley, WYTEC’s Executive Director is excited and proud to have been one of twenty Clubhouses worldwide selected to participate in (AYV)! "WYTEC strives to bring as many resources to the youth of our community it serves as possible. Participation in the (AYV) program represents a unique opportunity for redirection of our youth’s creative talents and intellectual abilities."
WYTEC youth have demonstrated a desire to use technology and multimedia tools to improve their communities. Numerous projects, such as the HUE Project HIV/AIDS Education featuring video and audio, were produced last summer. As a benefit of this partnership, WYTEC will receive a stipend and the newest version of the Adobe CS4 Production Suite so this year these projects will be even more impactful.
Adobe Youth Voices is a global initiative that provides youth (ages 13-18) advanced technology that can help them in fields such as graphic arts, web design, animation creation, video and audio production, and publishing. Adult Mentors play a key role in all Computer Clubhouse programs by helping youths connect their interests with the computer technology skills they need to express their message.
