WYTEC provides many programs and services that will help area youth and adults to learn the skills needed to succeed in today's fast paced work environment.

Entrepreneurship Education

This program offers supportive services in career planning, work maturity and financial literacy.  The program participants will be able to develop entrepreneurial projects that will promote self-sufficiency.  This entrepreneurial component is a key element in all program/services offered by WYTEC.  Only 22% of the 24,095 residents of the West Garfield residents have a high school diploma.  Employment opportunities in the community are lower then ever before.  The adult entrepreneurship class will be at minimum cost.

Community Technology Center - CTC

Participants will have an opportunity to take classes that will improve their employability skills and youth will be able to access the Internet for research and further their learning after school hours.  This program is targeted for grade school students to senior citizens in the community.  Many West Garfield residents don't have computers at home, therefore, residents are limited to timely information and opportunities that affects the quality of their lives.  WYTEC serves to decrease the gap between "the haves and the have nots".  Computer literacy is no longer an option.  Low income communities, like West Garfield, cannot be left behind.  Computer access will be free to very low cost for community residents.  Classes will include introduction to computers, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and Web site design.  Classes will be offered in four ten week periods each year.

INTEL COMPUTER CLUBHOUSE

WYTEC is a member the Intel Computer Clubhouse network.  Youth from this community now come to WYTEC facilities, to engage in personal projects where they with mentors use some of the highest grade application software available.  WYTEC members participate in open learning environment, through hands use of full video production, graphic art, web site design, robotics and music production.  Every two years youth leaders are chosen for a trip the “Flagship “ , Computer Clubhouse located in the Museum of Science, Boston.  Those WYTEC youth meet there for “Teen Summit “a collaborative adventure with other clubhouse members from as many sixty different countries.  The Computer Clubhouse meets the goals outlined by the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE).
